New Media Arts offers a coordinated series of non-credit classes made possible with the Pacific Center for Advanced Technology Training (PCATT). KCC New Media Arts and PCATT are continually working together to respond to the training needs of the local multimedia community by providing a lab with up-to-date software, high-end workstations for production, and technical training in a variety of new media arts related fields that include animation, interactive computer graphics, interface design including web design, information architecture, and the converging industries that require advanced skills in multimedia design and production. KCC|NMA courses are intended to serve professionals updating and refining their job skills. All courses integrate classroom instruction with hands-on skills in a learning environment that encourages the collaborative process inherent in professional multimedia design and production.
Popular non-credit offerings include the well-known and comprehensive digital imaging software program Photoshop, as well as the web animation program Flash, and the web authoring tool Dreamweaver. This year KCC|NMA will be hosting the New Media Arts Lecture Series, where leading industry professionals come to the island in a unique forum that includes a community lecture and a hands-on workshop in the New Media Arts PCATT Lab. KCC|NMA is also hosting the Foto Group, an informal gathering of people interested in making or viewing photographs. The New Media Arts Lecture Series and Foto Group presentations are free and open to the public.
