2002 Honolulu Marathon Television Special
During the Honolulu Marathon on December 8, 2002, I was providing
amateur radio communications support. I was stationed at Leahi Park, on
Diamond Head Road. A television production crew taped the lead female runner
(and eventual women's champion), Svetlana Zakharova, as she ran past my position.
I'm seated in a chair, by the park fence. I'm wearing a white cap and
blue jeans. Next to me is a directional beam antenna, made of white PVC pipe, pointed upward
to get my radio signal over the high, south side of the Diamond Head crater to the
repeater on the other side of the crater rim.
