An 'ili is a subdivision or a smaller area of land within an ahupua’a .

There are still smaller divisions of land beyond the ‘ili.

Today we may refer to the ‘ili as towns, communities, or neighborhoods.

This is the fourth level of land division.

Example: Le’ahi (Diamond Head)
