Econ 321 Introduction to Statistics
This course is intended to introduce students in the Economic department to the basic concepts of statistics and their application in economics. Topics include an overview of statics, graphical and numerical descriptive statistics, probability distributions for discrete and random variables, sampling distributions, confidence intervals and hypothesis testing, correlation and regression. The emphasis is on developing statistical reasoning skills and concepts; computational skill is secondary. Completion of an extensive statistics project is an essential component of the course. Students are taught the use of statistical software to handle the computations. Syllabus
