The Chinook Indians
Have you heard of the Chinooks Indians before? Well The Chinook Indians were known as traders. The Chinooks lived in many different places like British Columbia, Washington, and along the coast of the Pacific ocean, but the most common place they lived in was Oregon. The Chinooks had a lot of languages one was Jargon. For food they ate many different kinds, like wild berries, roots. But their favorite food was salmon. Their houses were made of thick grass. For the house roping they used tree branches. The Chinooks had a lot of tools. Their most common tools for hunting were arrows, spears, and traps. For fishing their most common tools were nets. Their clothing was made of buffalo hides, rabbit skin, and bird feathers. They also liked to weave clothes and made bracelets and necklaces out of beads. In the 1800’s a series of epidemics destroyed most of the Chinookan societies and now only a few Chinooks are left.
