I received my Bachelor’s in Oceanography from the Federal University of Bahia (Brazil) and Master’s and Ph.D. in Zoology from the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa. During my doctoral studies, I studied the ecology, feeding biology and taxonomy of polychaete worms from Hawai‘i and selected western Pacific Islands. As a result, we have discovered and described over 30 new species. Currently, I am a postdoctoral researcher for the Water Resources Research Center and my main goal is to identify and describe polychaete worms collected from the vicinity of O‘ahu’s sewage outfalls.
