ASSOCIATION OF HAWAII ARCHIVISTS
BOARD MEETING, February 28, 2006

Present: Jim Cartwright, Ellen Chapman, Barbara Dunn, Laura Gerwitz, Judy Kearney, Leilani Pyle, Kanani Reppun, Helen Wong Smith, Andrew Wertheimer

Jim called the meeting to order at 5:50 pm. Minutes of the January meeting were accepted as corrected. Helen reported that our account has $4999.48.

ANNUAL MEETING- Saturday, March 18
TIMES: So that there will be time for introductions and announcements at the starting time of 9:00, Jim will alert all registrants to be at the Academy at 8:45 and Ellen will ask Steve Little to arrive at 9:15. Ron will meet us at the main door and direct us to the Education wing where the meeting will be held. REGISTRANTS: So far, 23 are signed up for the meeting, 24 for lunch, and 13 for Shangri-La. LEI: Jim will buy lei for Steve, Mary Ann, and Ron. Kanani will give one to Steve, Andrew to Mary Ann, and Ellen to Ron.

MOLOKAI WORKSHOP: Helen reported that she, DeSoto Brown and Linda Hee will conduct the workshop on Saturday, May 20. They decided not to charge anything for attending the workshop and will meet later to work out the details of who will do what. Digital photos will be taken for a possible presentation at the SAA annual meeting. Larry Gates of Metal Edge will donate supplies.

ARCHIVES COURSES: Andrew said he is working to get both LIS archives courses offered on a regular basis. It is possible that a co-teaching arrangement could be set up.

INTERNS: Andrew asked that any archives wanting an intern to let him know and he'll post your information for LIS students.

HLA OUTREACH: Helen asked if AHA should make an outreach proposal to the Hawaii Library Association. She will draft a proposal for the Board to consider.

CULTURAL RESOURCE CENTER, LANAI: Helen will draft a memo to inform Nani Watanabe of Lanai's Cultural Resource Center about what AHA can do to help her organize the Center's archival program.

AHA ARCHIVES: Jim asked that the Helen, Ellen, and Judy submit copies of their respective products (monthly reports, newsletters) to him after the annual meeting. He will send them to our archives at BYU-Hawaii. Andrew will print out our Web pages as an archival "snapshot" of the website for our archives; this will be an annual activity.

NEXT MEETING: Kanani suggested that the Board not meet in March since the annual meeting will be that month. We all agreed and our next meeting will be on Tuesday, April 18, 5:30pm, at the Mission Houses.
