Board of Directors Meeting - 22 Nov. 2005 - Minutes (Revised)
Present: Jim Cartwright, Ellen Chapman, Barbara Dunn, Laura Gerwitz, Judy Kearney, Leilani Pyle, Kanani Reppun, Helen Wong Smith, Andrew Wertheimer
Jim called the meeting to order at 5:55. Minutes of the October meeting were approved as corrected.
HOLIDAY SOCIAL at the Mission Houses: Judy reported on the RSVPs so far (deadline is Nov. 29). The quilt exhibit will stay open until 5:30 and the shop will stay open until 6:00. The cocktail hour will be from 5:30-6:00, with wine and punch. We agreed that the Agnes C. Conrad award would be presented at the end of the cocktail period just before dinner at about 6:00. Jim will buy a lei for Agnes. He will also read the remarks about Agnes' contributions to archives in Hawaii composed by Susan Shaner. We approved the final draft of the award certificate; Ellen will have it framed.
ANNUAL MEETING: We decided this event will be for members only. Judy and Helen will create a registration form that will also have a place for a membership application or renewal. People wanting to pay for both the meeting and membership will asked to write separate checks. The base fee will be $15; optional are the Shangri-La tour ($25) and the lunch (charge not yet known). The Academy will not charge a fee for using the premises. Ellen will provide a list of attendees so that the Academy can make arrangements for free entry to the museum. She will also pursue reservations for lunch and will invite the speakers to lunch, as well as asking Steve Little's preference for when he would like to speak. We decided that AHA would pay for the new Board's dinner at their organizing meeting at TGIFriday's after the program ends.
NEW OFFICER ELECTIONS: Helen, Ellen and Andrew are all eligible to run for the Board again; all agreed to do so. Please give Jim any suggestions you have for other Board and officer candidates.
CONSULTING JOB: Helen reported that she will be assisting Marie Wosnack who will be an archival intern the for the KCAA.
DECEMBER MEETING: We decided that there would be no Board meeting in December.
The meeting was adjourned at 6:50
