Present: Jim Cartwright, Ellen Chapman, Laura Gerwitz, Judy Kearney, Kanani Reppun, Helen Wong Smith

Excused: Barbara Dunn, Leilani Pyle, Andrew Wertheimer

Jim called the meeting to order at 5:55. Minutes of the May meeting were accepted as corrected. Helen gave the Treasurer's report.

PROFESSIONAL ACTIVITIES
Saturday, Sept. 24, 2:00pm. UHM Art gallery director Tom Klobe will talk to us in the Art Auditorium about the Treasures of the Library exhibit, followed by a guided tour. After that, there will be refreshments in the courtyard.
October, possibly: Jim will continue to talk with UHM Library preservation officer Lynn Davis and Government Documents head Gwen Sinclair about a first anniversary presentation on recovery from the October 2004 Hamilton Library flood.

UHM LIBRARY FLOOD RECOVERY DONATIONS: Ellen reported that 13 AHA members donated at total of $725 to the Hamilton Library flood recovery fund.

ANNUAL MEETING: Ellen will try to schedule Honolulu Academy of Arts director Steve Little to speak to us on March 4, 11, or 18. When that date is firm, Judy will email all members to alert them to the date, explaining
why it won't be during Presidents Day weekend as usual and that more specific details will follow. We discussed the order of activities and tentatively decided on: presentation by Steve Little; visit to the library; visit to the archives; Capt. Cook exhibit; lunch; general member meeting; visit to Shangri La. At the end of the day, the new Board will
repair elsewhere for its first meeting.

SOCIAL EVENTS
Summer Social: Saturday, July 30 at Mary Judd's. Mary has arranged for a Hawaiian weaving demonstration. Kanani will provide lei for Mary and Bonnie, Jim will bring water and soft drinks, and all
attendees will bring a potluck dish. [WHO?] will mail out invitations with a map and directions.

Holiday Social: Helen's suggestion of the Mission Houses as a venue was enthusiastically agreed to by all present and Kanani gave the OK. We tentatively decided on: Tuesday, Dec. 6 since the holiday city lights will be up by then and it won't be so close to the holiday week; $25 per person; 5:30pm social hour followed by catered dinner; bring your own wine, etc.; approach Great Harvest about donating dessert; Helen will solicit door prizes.

HONORS: Ellen announced that Jim had recently been promoted at the UHM Library. Everyone congratulated him.

The meeting was adjourned at 6:40.
