Helen will buy lei for the program presenters, those on Lanai who are helping us, and Larry Gates of Metal Edge, Inc. who will host a cocktail hour on Saturday. Andrew will post the detailed schedule on the web site. [as soon as he receives it].
Helen will make a flyer about the community presentation "Caring for Family Treasures" and It will be distributed on Lanai by Nani Watanabe, of the Manele Bay/Koele Lodge historical office.
Andrew asked about a discount rate for a Lanai student in the LIS program who would like to attend parts of the Annual Meeting. We decided that the $7.50 student membership rate would be appropriate and the student could attend any of the activities.
BY-LAWS REVISION: Judy reported that 19 ballots have been received so far, 17 of them approving the by-laws changes. We will make provisions for balloting at the Annual Meeting for those who haven't voted before that.
Judy reported on the recent public presentations "Reflections After the Flood" (re UHM's Hamilton Library flood of Oct. 30, 2004). Karen Kosasa of the UHM American Studies Dept. discussed future public programs the Dept.
is planning on museum and archives preservation.
Also discussed among attendees was the need to form a group representing local archives, libraries and museums so that everyone concerned with preservation and conservation would know who has which expertise, equipment and supplies. This would be an effort to form a cooperative for increasing knowledge and avoiding some duplication. Judy will keep the AHA Board informed of developments.
The meeting was adjourned at 6:40 after which most members repaired to
Volcano Joe's for dinner.
