Relay for life is a community gathering where everyone can participate in the fight against cancer. Teams of people will be camping out at WCC and take turns walking or running around a path. Each team is asked to have a representative on the track at all times during the event—because cancer never sleeps. This relay will be an overnight event running from 5pm (first survivor lap starts at 7pm and team laps follow) till closing ceremonies at 6:30am.

Relay brings people together from all walks of life with the common goal of eliminating cancer. No matter who you are, there’s a place for you at Relay. Please join us and let’s have a great night while making a difference to the world around us.

Every participant that raises a $100 will receive a free WCC t-shirt or PTK t-shirt.

Contact Pam Nakanelua for more information (236-3147) email:pamelamn@hawaii.edu

The Spring Blood Drive at WCC

Thursday, March 16, 2006

Blood Bank icon

WCC Phi Theta Kappa is sponsoring the fall blood drive on March 16th and we need your help to sign up donors to give blood .

If you would be willing to pass around a donor sign up sheet in your classes please respond to this email or call Paul Field at x134.

If you would like to give blood call x134 to make an appointment. The Blood Drive runs from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. in Akoakoa 101 and 103 and anyone who gives blood will receive a free lunch.

Please also tell your students that they can support the Blood Drive even if they cannot give blood by buying lunch that day. This helps to cover the cost of the free lunches. The menu will be Shepherd’s Pie, Coleslaw, Ambrosia and a drink for $4.00. Lunch will be served in Akoakoa 107.

The fact is that more than 80% of us will need blood at some point in our lives and fewer than 10% of us donate blood. Let’s improve the odds that help will be available when we need it. Please join us in giving the gift of life.
