9. Jan. 2024: New term, new students! Welcome to Quang Ngo and Anson Thambi!
27. Oct. 2023: Good things come in threes. In October, we've had three paper acceptances: our collaborative work in Nanoscale, with the group of Dhruv P. Singh (IIT Bhilai); our collaborative work in Soft Matter, with the group of Lucio Isa (ETH Zürich) and Mihail Popescu (U. Seville); and Ruben's paper in Physical Review Fluids on bound states of spheroidal squirmers.
9. May 2023: We've been awarded an $800,000 grant from the DoD Historically Black Colleges and Universities and Minority-Serving Institutions (HBCU/MSI) Research and Education Program. Check out this DoD news release! Our project concerns using shape heterogeneity to engineer self-organization in suspensions of microswimmers.
28. Mar. 2023: Congratulations to DR. Ruben Poehnl on a successful Ph.D. defense!
24. Dec. 2022: We cordially invite active matter researchers worldwide to the workshop Active Matter at Surfaces and in Complex Environments taking place at the Max Planck Institute for the Physics of Complex Systems in Dresden, Germany in June 2023. More details and the application form are available here.
25. Nov. 2022: Congratulations to Liliana for winning a second round of UROP funding for her work on ICEP swimmers!
21. Sep. 2022: Dr. Uspal has been appointed as DAAD research ambassador for Germany. Please send him your questions about undergraduate and graduate research opportunities in DE!
28. Apr. 2022: Congratulations to Viviana for passing her Qualifying Exam with flying colors!
4. Apr. 2022: Thanks to Liliana for showing her experimental work to admitted students on Manoa Experience Preview Day. Thanks also to Ruben for helping explain the theoretical background and context to interested students and parents.
