Ruling 90-30Uniform Information Practice Act
October 23, 1990
The State of Hawai‘i, Department of the Attorney General, Office of Information Practices states: The fact that a person owes or has paid a fine to the Library is NOT confidential information. Information regarding what material is used will continue to be private, however the disclosure of information regarding Library fines would not result in an unwarranted invasion of personal privacy. Public interest in this information outweighs the privacy interest of the individual.
