Policies : Community Borrowers
To apply for a library card, applicants must have a:
- Hawai'i Driver's License, Hawai'i State ID, Kingdom of Hawai'i ID, or a US Military ID
- Be 18 years of age or older
Applicants can select from the following options:
- One Year: $60 ($30 for individuals 60 years of age or older)
- Six Months: $30 ($20 for individuals 60 years of age or older)
Community library cards are issued during library operating hours at either the UH West Oʻahu service desk or the Leeward Community College Circulation Desk.
A maximum of 10 items may be borrowed and items may be renewed once. Audiovisual items may be used at UH Manoa’s Wong Audiovisual Center at no charge or may be borrowed for a loan period of 7 days at the rate of $23 per item. Items on course reserve or which have a note indicating Library Use Only, UH Manoa Only, UH System Use ONLY, or AV Center Use ONLY may not be taken out of the library by community borrowers. The Community card may also be used at UH Hilo, UH Manoa, Kapi'olani Community College, Kauai Community College, Leeward Community College, Maui College, and Windward Community College.
Privileges do not include the use of intrasystem or interlibrary loans, computer labs, group study rooms, laptop loans, and remote access to restricted online databases. Use of public access computers connected to the Internet is limited to no more than one hour and is subject to all library and university usage and computing policies.
