About the Dance Program

The dance experience at UHM is particularly rich because of its ethnic, geographical, and cultural environment, which enables students to work in the dance traditions of Asia and the Pacific as well as in those of Western Europe and the United States.

The program includes five full-time faculty (one shared with Theatre) and 9 part-time faculty, who teach approximately 32 courses per semester, with an average enrollment of 300 students per semester that includes 45 undergraduate and 15 graduate dance majors.

Through a formal exchange relationship with the London Contemporary Dance School, one student is selected each year to spend one semester studying in a conservatory setting in England.
