ABOUT ME
Hello
everyone and welcome to my page. My name is Tara Zhaneal
Cabral. I am a student at Honolulu Community
College. My
major is Welding Technology, where I want to become a certified welder.
IN THE FUTURE
My future career plans is to
get a good job for a good company either at Horizon, Matson or Young
Brothers. Where I would be working in
their personal welding shops making repairs on containers, but that is in the
distant future. Right now, I am just working on getting my certificate in
welding. For good jobs require certificates.
I graduated from Wallace Rider Farrington High
School,
Class of 2007. Farrington is also where I had taken up welding classes that
taught me a great deal of welding. My teacher made sure that I was, “better
than the boys” sort of say so that I can become successful. He taught me that I
would be looked down on because I am a girl in a “mans” trade. I have learned
so much from going to Farrington.
MY LIFE
My
hobbies are playing paintball with my family. Paintball is a very large part of
my life. Reason being is that most of my family and friends are involved with
paintball. Or team name is 808 Tribe,
named to represent Hawaii and the family union that we have. When I am not
playing paintball I also love to draw, paint, basically be artsy. I love
letting my imagination take over and produce something different. When I am not
doing both those things, I am probably around with my friends or family,
relaxing and just having a good time enjoying life.
As
you can tell family is a big part of my life. Everything that I do is for my
family. Without them in my life I would not be who I am today. It is also great
to know that whatever I may do with my life, if I fail or succeed I know that
they are always there to back me up, and that is the best thing anyone could
ever have.
WHERE I AM FROM
My hometown is Hilo. Although I was born here on the island of Oahu, we were raised on the Big Island. We lived there for about 8 years, and finally moved
back here 7 years ago.
Living on the Big Island was an experience. Life up there is very different
from life here. On the Big Island, they do not have running water, instead they use
catchments, and hope for rain, which is abundant up there, and since you can’t
drink the water you would have to go to the spigot to get water every week.
Here you can have people pick up your garbage at the curb, on the Big Island you would have to travel miles to go to the rubbish
dump. Sure it was a lot of work, but it taught us to be humble, and that is the
best thing one can ever learn.
