** Sports Shorts **

Lokahi tallied 66 points to top Koa Kai (53 pts) at the Hui Wa'a
Kamehameha Canoe Club Regatta yesterday at Keehi Lagoon.  Koa Kai won last
week's regatta despite being entered in the A Division for clubs entering
16 or less crews.  Koa Kai also won the A Division yesterday.

Kalaeloa, representing Campbell High School, won the NSAA Hawaii Region
Championship surf competition yesterday at Barbers Point's White Plains
Beach.  King Kekaulike of Maui finished second, Kahuku third, Team Kauai
(Kauai High) fourth, and Nahoa He'e Nalu (Kamehameha) fifth.

In other surfing action, Duane Desoto won the Open Pro division of the
Hawaiian Style Longboard Classic at Waikiki's Kuhio Beach yesterday.  Joey
Valentin was second, Bonga Perkins third, and Rusty Keaulana fourth.

Ted Thome (47:28) and Katherine Nichols (53:37) were the respective men's
and women's winners at yesterday's North Shore Triathlon at Mokuleia Beach
Park.  The event involved a 400-meter swim, 10-mile bike, and 5-K run.

East shore : 1 to 3 feet
West shore : 1 to 2 feet
