Inspired by Dayle's write-up of a few weeks ago (8/23/98), Dave Webb and I decided to check-out what promised to be an interesting hike. Rather than doing the club hike last Sunday, Dave and I met at Swanzy Beach Park at 8:00 AM. We wanted to get a good jump on the HTMC gang so that there would be no question that we were on our own and not part of the club sponsored hike. I won't go into the details of the hike because Dayle posted and excellent write up and anyone interested should refer it.

I would like to say though, this is a great hike and the loop can be easily done in about 5 1/2 to 6 hours including a lunch break. Thanks to Dayle and the HTMC gang for clearing the way through the uluhe which made the going a lot easier than they had. Coming down Manamana is quite interesting and as Dayle put it, gnarly in spots. One must use extra caution during the descent but the views are spectacular and right in front of you all the way. This hike is definitely not for anyone uneasy with heights. Perhaps HTMC can make this loop part of their Kahekili hike in the future. What do you think Dayle and Patrick?

Aloha!
