Sunday was a great (exceptional) day for hiking the Waianae range. Clear skies, cool temperature, awesome views but just a tad on the windy side. Three of us departed the parking lot at 9:30 and were up at the summit three hours later. With the exception of some heavy over growth near the top, the trail was in very good condition. I was glad however that I wore my long gaiters due to the raspberry bushes during the final climb. It's been over a year since I've done this hike and I had forgotten just how terrific this hike really is. With the cool conditions I don't believe I went through two liters of water where under normal conditions I would consume at least four. The wind did pick up during the early afternoon and the strong gusts made it quite interesting crossing over the narrow dike sections. Arrived back at the parking lot at 3:30. A great time was had by all and we had the whole mountain to ourselves.
