Did the Maunawili Demo. Trail from Waimanalo side 1/3 way in. Two women hikers say that came down from Pali side and will return the same way.
Then went up the ridge to the 3rd peak of Olomana again. This time I saw a side trail going to the left, that leads to a rockface with good footholds and handholds. Looks like that will bring one up 50 feet to a secure ledge. After that, who knows?
I also sat on that rock at the base of the cliff, like I did last time, but, no more revelations.
We should have G.I. Jane practise her ropework on Olomana 3 backside first before going on the suicidal mission of reopening the ancient Hawaiian commuter route aka Six Teeth.
When I came up from the trailhead Waimanalo side, only 5 minutes, on the right as you go up, is a nicely manicured trail labeld as "Maunawili Ditch Trail". Gee, I've never heard of that one before, and if I don't even know about it, what good is it? :-) Anyone knows where it goes to?
