Kula Botanical Garden was established in 1968 by Warren and Helen McCord as a display garden for Warren's landscape architecture business. The garden has evolved into a tourist destination that, according to the garden's website, "draws thousands of visitors every year." Entirely family owned and the McCords "take pride in sharing [their] garden with [visitors]."
Located on the slopes of Haleakala, Kula Botanical Gardens spans eight acres and is home to colorful and rare plants, interesting rock formations, waterfalls, a fish pond, an area with birds, among other attractions. The cost of admission is $10 for adults, $3 for children ages 6-12, and free for kids 5 and under. On site there are snacks for sale, restrooms, and a deck with a beautiful view.
