ThereÕs many other things to do at Ala Moana Beach Park than just
surfing. You can fish, you can fly your kite, play tennis and basketball
on the courts. For health enthusiasts the park is an excellent place to
jog and stroll. You might be wondering how exactly do you get there.
Well, you just take the H-1 freeway to town and take the Kinau cut off.
Then take your first left, then right, and go straight until you reach
Ala Moana Boulevard. And turn left onto it. Then take a right at Ala
Moana Beach Park. ThereÕs always something going on or something to do,
so youÕll never feel bored for the lack of activities. Ala MoanaÕs vast
space and beauty make it a favorite for many. It is often used monthly
for many company cook-outs, benefits, craft fairs, contests and even
entertainment. For many years it has been the focal for the starting
point for our famous parades, like the HoÕolaulea. For just lying in the
sun and tanning, the sun rays are comfortable on the skin. The water is
cool and shallow enough to wade around in. At night, itÕs a great place
for couples to take a romantic stroll on the beach. Benches everywhere
to sit, feel the breeze, and smell the fresh clean air. If you visit in
the summer, youÕll be able to catch the summer swell, where waves reach
the heights of eight to ten feet. Also, if youÕre lucky you might just
catch the turtles swimming by. Ala Moana Beach Park is the best there is
and when you experience it for yourself, youÕll agree.
You take the H-1 to town and take the University cut off. Stay on
University Avenue and turn left into the parking lot. If youÕre young
and like dancing. ThereÕs just the place for you! The Vybe! The Vybe
is a dance club for people who are sixteen and older. The music ranges
from R & B to Alternative music. ItÕs five dollars to get in before
10:00 p.m.. Then it costs eight dollars after ten to get in. So make
sure you get there before ten! The place closes at around 2:00 a.m..
The Vybe is a great place to meet people. The atmosphere is friendly.
You can walk up to anyone and ask them to dance and most likely theyÕll
say yes! So get on down to the Vybe. IÕll see you there.
Pearlridge is located in Aiea on Moanalua Road. There are many
things one can find to do at Pearlridge, such as; shopping, eating, and
taking in a movie. Some of the shops at Pearlridge are Liberty House,
Sears, and J.C. Penneys, as well as hobby, stereo, and surf shops. While
shopping you might become hungry. Pearlridge has many fast food
restaurants to choose from, such as; Taco Bell, Burger King, and
Sbarros. My personal favorite is Cinnabons where you can get the best
cinnamon roll topped with sweet frosting. When your done eating you can
catch a movie located in the same area as the restaurants. There is a
wide variety of shows to choose from that include action thrillers and
love stories. So come check out Pearlridge, IÕm sure youÕll find
something to do there even if its just walking around.
