An Inclusive Approach to Creating Peace in the World
"Let there be peace and let it begin with women."
The Women's Peace Project aims at creating world peace by combining the efforts of women throughout the world. Working in harmony with children and men, it takes an inclusive approach, utilizing spiritual and scientific technology, and transcending ethnic and cultural boundaries. Drawing inspiration and wisdom from humanity's diverse religious paths and ideologies, it seeks to share this wisdom and foster practical skills for building a more peaceful world.
WOMEN AS PEACEMAKERS
This year women's presence in the world will reach three billion human beings, all with the potential for human fulfillment and global transformation. Much of women's potential to date has been repressed, squandered, or ignored. Now as global violence reaches alarming proportions, it is time to encourage and maximize women's potentials for bringing peace to the world.
It is a truism that values are initially imparted in the home, primarily by women. As mothers, caregivers, teachers, spiritual mentors, wives, sisters, and daughters, each has a vital role to play in shaping world culture. Until now, however, the institutions with greatest power--governments, armies, religious institutions, and the media--have been dominated almost exclusively by men. Women have played little, if any, role in the decisions that sent their sons and daughters off to wars, brothels, gangland killings, and drug-infested streets. Now this must change.
It is crucial to examine the foundation myth that "There will always be wars and rumors of war" and take practical steps now to transfigure it. For millennia wars and unrest have raged in human hearts and human society, but most often in an environment of women's personal and institutional disempowerment. Women must now take the message that peace is possible and implement it through prayer, peace education, performance, the arts, and the political process.
THE MISSION
The mission of the Women's Peace Project is to transform a culture of violence to a culture of peace. Our goal is to create an alliance of women, children, and men committed to actualizing peace in our hearts, our families, our communities, and our world. It is an effort to empower human beings with wisdom and loving kindness, and nurture their innate potentials for effecting peace at every level of society.
STRENGTH IN UNITY
The power of individuals is enhanced exponentially in concert with other like-minded individuals. Creating coalitions of women from the world's diverse institutions--familial, communal, religious, educational, political, and economic--will build a solid foundation of strength from which to combine resources in the critical project of reversing the destructive downward spiral of greed, anger, and hatred to an constructive upward spiral of happiness, harmony, and cooperation.
THE TASK
The first step toward achieving an effective alliance of women committed to creating world peace is to impart necessary practical skills:
- the meditative skills to create inner peace
the communications skills to constructively address situations conducive to violence
the organizational skills to implement and maintain this coalition for peace
the technological skills to move the peace agenda forward
ALIGN NOW!
The health and well-being of future generations is in our hands. Personally and internationally the scales are tipping precariously toward misery, miscommunications, and conflict. A global effort to mobilize the strengths and talents of the world's women to reverse this trend comes not a minute too soon. Be part of a global alliance of women working to change the earth's climate from storm to peace.
This international, non-sectarian effort is free and open to all. To join this global coalition of women (and friends) committed to creating inner peace and world peace, contact:
