Notes on Project 1:

  • Please contact Matt during lab if you have questions about your grade.  If you cannot do this, then email him at sharritt@hawaii.edu.

  • The extra credit was worth 5 points.  If you did it and believe it worked properly, and you don't see it reflected above, please contact me (Matt).

  • Many people lost a few points for not following the Java Coding Standard.  A lot of people messed up the formatting, and did things like double-space their code.  The penalty this time was not too bad, but future projects the Java Coding Standard will be taken more seriously.

  • Many people forgot to check for invalid times, such as 0899.  Others didn't efficiently check for these invalid times and lost a few points because they checked every hour of the day and compared every hour of the day to the time that was entered.  This is a poor way to check for invalid times- a better way would be to make sure the last two digits of the time was between 0 and 59.
