This time I spent my time reading a few articles

Reading:

Why cell phones will doninate the future Internet This article explains all the advantages of the use of cell phones. It describes them as the expensive technology that every cool teen and their neighbor uses to communicate. This article is getting me more into thinking about cell phone use in the classroom because it is technology that is already there for our use but it is unexploited. I need to do some research about this.
In any case this article explains how great cell phones are and it compares them with laptops but when reading critically I can tell that the author only compares those features in which cell phones are obvious winners. I don't want to say that cell phones are not great tools but I still need to keep my feet grounded.
Technology factors in corporate adoption of mobile cell phones: a case study analysis" This article enticed me into looking for information about family adoption of cell phones.
IP network for emergency service I didn't finish readign this article, so I will finish next week.

My thoughts

I really need to find a way to test at least part of my emergency network....

What I want to look into for next week:

Need to find clear disadvantages of cell sohes
If they are used for communciation it is fine but for other process intensive application other devices need to be used. This is important to keep in mind so that the limitations of the devices are very much taken into consideration at desing time.

reading : 3.5 hours
others : I think for long periods of time and keep my eyes and ears open for any news in communcation. This week I heard in NPR about the Chinese developing a phone to do video conferencing. I don't think that it will be used in my project because it is very battery and bandwidth intensive, but if cell phones will be able to perform this kind of service then they will be better equiped with longer lasting batteries and providers will give their customers more bandwith for real time communication.
