Reading a Book

I found a book in the library. I always go to the "new books" section first and then move from there on because there are nice surprises in there.

Reading:

• Wireless and Cellular Telecommunications -I read chapter 1 which was mostly a review since I am fairly familiary with cellular phones and their technology
• The challenges of Wireless and Mobile Technologies -The RFID encourages the mobile phone development. I read this article about how RFID is used to prevent cell phones to be used inside hospitals and how it can be used in movie theatres. I am wondering what can be done with cell phones in the classroom.... Maybe we can turn them off when students get to class and turn them back on when they leave
• Cell phone use in the classroom Something to keep in mind
• The use or RFID technology can help in shelters to prevent cell phone batteries from draining when they are not in use. When cell towers go down, cell phones keep on looking for signal therefore draining their batteries which will be needed later on when communications restablish again. It is important to save this precious resource.
  

My thoughts

The book has basic information and I plan to keep it in case that I need it. However as we discussed in person, this kind of technology is best followed in papers. Howeve, I find that books show which trends are here to stay and therefore must be taken into consideration.

What I want to look into for next week:

• Find more about different research methods. Figure out where technology meets communication and how people accept technology. I must say that this is not of particular interest to me. I am m ore in the engineering side than in the people side. For research I rather deal with hardware than with human beings.
• I must pay more attention when I read sot hat I can find out the gaps/holes of things that are yet to be implemented in technology. Maybe I need to do some marketing research...

Time spent:

• writing : 1 hour
• reading : 2 hours
• others : looking around for more books and information related to the book that I found, about 1.5 hours.
• thinking about RFID and how it can be used and beneficial : lots of time ..... lots....
