Japanese for Oral Communication

Announcement: New courses in Japanese for oral communication

Functional and task oriented with emphasis on culture

We have a new series of courses, JPN111, 112, 211, 212,
focusing on oral communication in Japanese. These courses meet 3 times a week,
and cover skills needed to interact with Japanese people in Hawaii and
Japan. Students will be required to learn hiragana and katakana, but
there is less emphasis on reading and writing than the traditional
courses. These courses take a radically new approach to learning a
language, with an emphasis on how to appropriately interact in the new
culture. They are perfect for students and faculty who are going to
spend time in Japan in the future.
