Thayanan Phuaphanthong

I am a PhD Candidate in Communication and Information Sciences Program at the University of Hawaii at Manoa. With guidance from Dr. Tung X. Bui - my mentor, I develop a memetic theory that explains how complex systems like interorganizational information systems emerge, evolve, and coevolve with an environment in which they are embedded. My work is inspired by Dawkins’ concept of meme, Darwin’s theory of natural selection, and Lamarck’s theory of acquired characteristics and inheritance.

In addition to my mentor, I have also received tremendous support from my dissertation committee members:

  1. *Dr. Elizabeth J. Davidson

  2. *Dr. Ellen Hoffman

  3. *Dr. Daniel D. Suthers

  4. *Dr. Jennifer Sunrise Winter
