ICS 421 Database Systems

Hi, Guys! My name is Takuya Yamashita from Japan and I am second year undergraduate student in ICS.

After I got a Bachelor's in economics in UH at Hilo, I got in PhD program in Econ. However, I decide to learn Computer Science here. Since I would like to get in Master's, I am happy if I could enhance my knowledge of database system with my colleague in ICS 421.

As for a project, what I am currently very interested in is the web-based application, especially an advertisement database system on the net. To take a example, it is the web site on Amazon.com (http://www.amazon.com). I am keen to study rather advertisement data system than shopping cart. When I visited that site several times after first visit, I was very surprised at the advertisement related to my concern. I am not sure I could establish the database system like this within a semester, but if anyone is interesting in this matter as I am, let's struggle with the issue.

As for a special topic, I would like to focus on the web technology related to my project. Thus I would like to learn rather JSP, JDBC than ASP, ODBC.
