How to Set Up an Internship?
There are three ways that you can obtain the information of internship
opportunities:
- Visit our internship organization list web site: It contains a list
of sponsors that established with the School of Communications and
their contact information that includes their names, addresses, and
phone numbers. Most recent internship opportunities are also available
in HTML format under the description of each organization. You can
also click on the links to some of the sponsors' websites from this
list.
- Most recent internship opportunities are also listed on the bulletin
board of the School of Communications office. It is updated periodically.
- You can also subscribe to our intern-l@hawaii.edu
listserv to keep yourself informed of any internship opportunities.
To subscribe, simply drop a line to the Internship Instructor at swu@hawaii.edu
and provide her with your full name, status (junior or senior), and
interested internship areas.
Contact potential sponsors to set up an interview:
Using either phone (highly recommended) or email as your tools to set
up an interview. Be sure to be concise, polite, and professional. Here
are two key points you need to address in your phone or email conversation
(please customize them as your own):
- Introduce yourself as a student of School of Communications, UHM
and want to explore the internship possibilities for _____________________(semester
or summer).
- Explain how you found out about this internship: "I would like
to learn more about the internship you have listed in UH Communication
Internship web site."
