"In-Point" Puts its Spotlight on UH Magazine Assistant Producers
    By: Ryan Kawamoto

    Jenny Yamashita, jennyy@hawaii.edu
Jenny Yamashita serves as the Supervising Producer for UH Magazine, working on nearly every aspect of production from set construction to editing the on-line version of the show. She also directed the "UH Magazine Christmas Show."

For this yearžs UH Magazine Halloween Special, Yamashita produced "All Soulžs Day," a dramatic short about a resident adviser and a haunted dorm. For the same show, she shot a one-on-one interview with Glen Grant, one of Hawaii's ghost story historians. During the course of the interview, Grantžs chilling accounts caused the interviewer to jump out of his chair. It was an intense experience that she says shežll never forget.

Jenny Yamashita is currently a senior working towards a Bachelor of Arts degree in communication. After graduation this summer, she hopes to obtain a career in the local video production industry.

    Stephanie Ana, sana@hawaii.edu
Stephanie Ana recently signed on as the Sports Director for UH Magazine. Because of her prior interest and involvement with sports features on the show, Stephanie offers insight and experience to younger members, especially with a growing number of people interested in producing sports stories. She will also guide a new production team in the coverage of the Rainbow baseball season.

Anažs previous work includes features on the å96 Rainbow Menžs Volleyball Team, the Post-Wagner Football Program, the UH Football Yearbook, All-Nighter 17, interviews with the LA Lakers, as well as a story on campus crime. She also has experience in front of the camera as the co-host of the January 1997 episode of UH Magazine.

Stephanie Ana plans to graduate next year with a Bachelor of Arts degree in journalism. She recently began working part-time for KITV4 News as a producer.

    Alisa Linse, linse@hawaii.edu
Alisa Linse serves as the News Director for UH Magazine. She coordinates the ENG operations for the UH News and Campus Life segments on the show. UH News has covered issues such as the UHPA contract negotiations, problems with tuition waivers for native Hawaiian students, and the selling of sex-appeal with the new UH men's volleyball posters.

Linse also enjoys anchoring UH News to obtain more in-front-of-camera experience. A skill she says she would like to work at. Some of the projects that she is currently working on include coverage of the annual "Condom Fair," and a story focusing on feminism. Alisa is hoping to assemble a new team of student reporters and shooters to strengthen the ENG potential of UH Magazine.

Alisa Linse is currently a junior majoring in journalism and is considering a second major in communication.

    Sarah Schuster, linse@hawaii.edu
Sarah Schuster is the newest addtion to the core of associate producers. Her first major project is a public service announcement. Also expressing an interest in directing, Sarah will serve as the assistant director for the UH Magazine Valentines Special. She worked as a camera operator and production assistant for several episodes of UH Magazine. She worked with Tara Beaty and Steven Domingo on the "Midnight Ohana" campus life feature.

Schuster says her love of movies such as "Thelma and Louise" and "Aliens" got her interested in television and video production. She is motivated and eager to learn as much as she can about the craft.

Sarah Schuster is currently a senior majoring in Art and plans to graduate with a Bachelor of Arts degree in December.
