A Quick Rewind on Fall 1996

Last semester SVFA kicked it into high gear! It all started with 40 people attending the first general meeting of the fall semester. We also took a different approach with our meetings. They were held every week and included workshops, educational and entertaining videos, as well as guest speakers.

Some of the guest speakers we had were Dr. Duane Omid-Varan, who talked about Hollywood screenwriting, Dennis Christianson, who talked about his personal experiences in the television and film industry, and SVFA alum, Shawn Hiatt, who spoke to our membership about directing.

The new format for the general meetings was so successful that this semester we have decided to add another hour to them.

Fall 1996 also marked a milestone for our Executive Producer of UH Magazine, Ryan Kawamoto. The special Halloween show was his 20th episode as Executive Producer. Ryan continues to produce UH Magazine, the half-hour variety show.

This semester we hope to take the momentum that we gained last fall and keep it up! Everyone can look forward to more guest speakers and workshops, more exciting episodes of UH Magazine, and the SVFA 7th Annual Awards Ceremony. So, stay tuned because there¼s a lot more to come!
