Building upon the rejuvenation of spirit and vitality in SVFA, and its new motto of "the Future starts Today," the vision behind the theme tries to capture the hopes of SVFA for its own future, as well as the future of the film and video industry here in Hawai'i. Visions of the Future: SVFA would not exist if not for the visions of students in the past who sought a way to have their ideas and voices heard through the medium of film and video. SVFA will not exist in the future without the visions of students in the state of Hawai'i. Vision for the Future: SVFA is taking a new tack in activism in the industry. The vision referred to here is one of an industry that is self sufficient and supports the island economy, as well as creating a viable market for the skills of future video and film makers. The Awards Ceremony Planning Committee is attempting to acquire Kennedy Theatre as a venue once again. We would like to better utilize the facilities available on campus, as well as bringing the event "closer to home." Building upon the experience of the last year, we hope to improve the relationship SVFA has with Kennedy Theatre management. The Ceremony is tentatively planned for May 24 (Kennedy permitting). This year¼s ceremony is also planned to go "live," broadcast statewide utilizing 'Olelo's remote van, and the facilities at the Information Technology Services to transport the signal to the station. With the Awards Ceremony date fast approaching, Official Entry Forms are on their way out to both high school and college students around the state. The entry deadline has been set on Friday, April 4, 1997.
