CONCLUSION

To answer my question "Should fa'afafines be classroom teachers?" based on my EDEF 678 classmates, to my surprise, I found that almost all (24) would feel comfortable having one as part of their teaching staff, to team teach with, or to be friends with. I was also surprise to find that out of the fifteen parents, ten of them have no problem with fa'afafine teachers as long as they're doing what they were hired to do - teach. A few parents changed their views because of personal beliefs and that their child might become confused on what gender role to take on.

In short, majority of my EDEF 678 classmates feel the same way as I do. As long as fa'afafine teachers are teaching effectively without using their identity to influence or rub off onto others, then we are all comfortable with them as classroom teachers and as teachers of our children.
