HISTORY OF ART III

AIM In this course, we will examine major changes in the artistic approaches of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. The significant movements in modern art that will be discussed are given in the course schedule. Outlines for each lecture will be furnished listing all the art works discussed in each class. Although most of the works are illustrated in Gardner's book, slides shown in each lecture will be available on the Web Site for ARCH 4249. This site can be accessed from the ONLINE COURSES section of the College of Architecture's Web Site. WRITTEN ASSIGNMENTS The first assignment will be a descriptive analysis of a work of art in the High Museum in Atlanta. The second paper will require library research, including the use of Art Index and reading in Art Journals.
