In the late l9th Century Wong Chong Yao left Pun Sa Village in Guandong Province, China to seek his fortune in the Sandalwood Islands (Hawaii).
Wife, Wong Ching Shee, followed him to Hawaii several years later.
This begins the Wong Chong Yao family of more than two hundred descendants.
