In the late l9th Century Wong Chong Yao left Pun Sa Village in Guandong Province, China to seek his fortune in the Sandalwood Islands (Hawaii).

Wife Wong Ching Shee followed him to Hawaii several years later. So began the Wong Chong Yao family and its history.
