The End of the Semester Party was a HUGE success! Thank you to everyone that came by. The party wouldn't have been any better without you. A big thank you to the Chefs at KCC for making the food amazing delicious! Thank you to the SCS officers for diligently coordinating the event. We've made some great memories and we hope that all of SCS will remember them. In addition to this, we would like to congratulate our graduates. They've came a long way and we wish them the best. Congratulations to all of you and we hope to hear great things about you!

As the end of the semester slowly comes to an end, we would like to remind SCS that we are excited to plan for next semester's events. We have three great officers that will be joining us next year. They are Dayna, as our additional Vice President, Cyndia, as our Social Chair, and Kenric, as our Academic Chair. Congratulations and welcome to the team! We’re looking forward to next semester as there will be more exciting events in the future! Updates will be posted in January so be sure to come back and check out the site. Take care everyone and have an awesome holiday season!

Thank you to everyone who could attend the meeting! We had a very productive session discussing events we plan to have for next semester. For those who missed out on the important information discussed, we held our officer election for the Social Chair and Special Media Chair position. Ballot results will be announced in the next SCS event. Next semester we plan to have a more variety of events for members to participant in. So look out for an awesome semester next year!

The last event we have for the semester is the End of Semester Party. Everyone who is attending or planning to attend the event should send their payment to the Communicology Department office, George Hall 236 OR to any of the SCS officers by Monday, December 5th in an envelope with your name and function on it. For active members it is $10, for inactive members and other students it is $20. If payment is not received by then, you won’t be able to eat! So we strongly recommend everyone to pay as soon as possible! Thank you and we hope to see you all for the most anticipated event of the semester!

A big thank you to Melissa, Felix, Alfie, and Lee for coming to our Career Discussion Workshop! We are so happy to have you share your experience in the professional workforce and your stories as a student at UH Manoa. We are entirely grateful to you for taking time off to come and talk to us. We have learned an immense amount of information from you and feel encouraged to continue to work hard in college. Pictures from the Career Discussion are viewable in the Events section.

On November 30th SCS will be having its Second General Meeting in BUSAD D203. We encourage all members to come to this meeting as we will be discussing important matters involving the club for next semester. We will also be holding an officer election. We highly encourage all members to apply for an officer position as it will help build up your leadership skills. Good luck to all who apply! This past Wednesday we had our delicious CPK fundraiser! We want to thank everyone who came out and supported our event and also for those who spread the word about it! We’ve made a total of $110.00! Great job SCS!

Our next event would be the Career Discussion by Communicology Alumni. We will have a unique panel of guest speakers who will be coming to talk to us about their professional background next week Wednesday at 3:00pm. to 5:00pm. in BUS AD D203. Please bring questions for them to answer and also friends as well! The event is FREE and open to everyone so please come and enjoy the workshop. In other news we will have our Second General Meeting on November 30th, in BUS AD 203 from 3:00pm. to 4:30pm. We will be holding an election for officers and discussing plans for next semester’s events. This is an important meeting so please come on time!

Despite the rainy weather on Friday, the Homecoming Fair at the SCS booth was a success! Thank you to everyone who volunteered their time to come and help us out at the event. Photos of the event have been added in the Event section, so please check them out! We had a lot of bright individuals that came by and visited our booth to learn more about SCS. We hope to continue to spread the word about SCS and recruit new members. The next event we have is our CPK Fundraiser we have been mentioning all semester. Simply print the CPK pamphlets found here, and start spreading the word about our fundraiser. Remember to give each person you know a pamphlet in order for SCS to get 20% of the profit made. Thank you for your continuous support!

First thing first, thank you to everyone who came to the Aiea Bowling event! We are happy to see that a lot of faulty, graduates, SCS members, and guests came to the event. We hope to have an even bigger and more spectacular bowling event next time!

Coming up this week is the ASUH Volunteer at the 2011 Homecoming Fair. We will need help with setting up and tearing down equipment. Volunteers will have chance to host fun games at the event. Anyone that can come out and help out at the event will get a free Speech or Communicology t-shirt. So please come out and join us! In November we will have our CPK fundraiser at Ala Moana. Please click here to print out the pdf file and start distributing the flyers to everyone you know! Remember, 20% of the bill will be donated to SCS, so please let everyone you know about our fundraising event! Also in November is our Alumni Workshop where previous Speech and Communicology graduates will come and share their experience in the Speech/Communicology program. More information will be released as the date gets closer. Until then, have a great week!

We have lots of great opportunities for SCS members to participate in this semester! Please take note that the "Upcoming Events" have been updated with new dates and information! Officer bios have also been updated as well.

The first volunteer opportunity of this semester will be at Kapiolani Community College in room Iliahi 106. We will be working with the International Cafe to help international students practice their English language skills by conversing with them. This will be a great chance to contribute our time to the community and even make new friends! Also in October is our semester Student vs. Faculty Bowling at Aiea. It will be on Saturday, October 15 from 2pm. to 4pm. For non-SCS members it will be $10 and for paid SCS members it will be $5 per person. This minimum fee will cover shoe rental, two games, and especially pizza! Please let us know if you need a ride to either events by contacting us through scs@hawaii.edu. We're looking forward to seeing all of you there!
