Patrick Videau, a PhD candidate from Rougemont, NC, graduated from Goucher College in 2007 with a BA in the Biological Sciences. During his time at Goucher, Patrick was a TA for multiple classes in the Biology Department and spent a great deal of time in the Theater Department participating in as many theater opportunities as a non-major was allowed. Aside from research conducted during Patrick's undergraduate education, he has also worked in DNA nanotechnology laboratories at Duke University and the University of Aarhus (Denmark), conducted virology research at Johns Hopkins University, and was an intern in a systematics and evolution lab at the Academy of Natural Sciences of Drexel University. His work on Anabaena sp. strain PCC 7120 focuses on the function of HetR, an analysis of the promoter region of hetP, and how they both exert control over the process of differentiation.
