MOVING A HOLDINGS RECORD TO ANOTHER BIB RECORD


CAUTION: Follow SCCC de-duping procedures


Retrieve all known bib records for a given title
Show associated records for each bib (folders icon)
Expand display to show all items under holdings
Make printouts of the displays (optional)
Determine which bib has holdings that need to move to which bib
Write down or mark the BIB ID number of the destination bib record
Write down or mark the MFHD ID of the holdings to move


Retrieve the bib record with the holdings to be moved
Show associated records
Highlight the line showing the holdings to be moved
Click 'retrieve'
Click 'record'
Click 'relink holding to bibliographic'
Enter the BIB ID of the destination bib record
Proofread the number
Click 'OK'

The next screen will show the same holdings record that you just relinked to the destination bib record.

Show associated records to display the new record hierarchy for the destination bib record.

If the bib from which you moved the holdings is your library's record and it has no other holdings, circulation, or acquisitions records attached, the bib record can be deleted.

If it is not your record, follow SCCC de-duping procedures.
