2007 Honolulu Marathon

At the Honolulu Marathon on December 9, 2007, I was assigned to be the radio communicator on a medical support van. We spent most of the day picking up runners who were unable to continue, and transporting them to the medical tent at Kapiolani Park for treatment. We also provided logistical support by transporting equipment, supplies, and personnel to and from aid stations along the route.

This image is from the 10 pm KGMB newscast. It was shot on Kilauea Ave., just before Waialae Ave., near the 10-mile mark. Our van was parked across the street at the Kahala Mall shopping center, by the Macy's store. I'm on the left of the frame, wearing an orange and yellow safety vest, gray T-shirt, and khaki pants. I'm facing away from the runners while conferring with a guy on my van crew, who is wearing a red shirt.
