Cycling has been very, very good to me! Cycling and bicycles have been a big part of my life. My brother Russ encouraged me to race bicycles and it was through his encouragement and motivation that I entered my first bike race. Thus began my adventure of racing and riding bicycles.

I owe a great deal of my success as a racer and as a cycling coach to the late, great Mike Walden: former head cycling coach of The Wolverine Sports Club. I had the opportunity to be coached by Mike, and to eventually coach with him. Many of the most instrumental events in my life have been directly or indirectly related to the guidance and inspiration that Mike has given me.

I was never a National Champion like many of Mike's riders, however, I have won several State Championships in Michigan and Hawai'i thanks to Mike and the skills he helped me develop and improve. What I value most from Mike's tutelage is the exemplary dedication to helping others improve their skills, that he demonstrated day in and day out. It was Mikes complete dedication to helping others improve their skills that inspired me to become a coach and a teacher. So thanks Mike Walden.
