National Marine Fisheries Service: Honolulu Laboratory. The mission of the Protected Species Investigation at the NMFS, Honolulu Laboratory is to recover and maintain Hawaiian monk seal and Pacific sea turtle populations.

Hawaii Institute of Marine Biology at Coconut Island. The Hawai'i Institute of Marine Biology is a world-renowned research institute situated on Coconut Island in Kane'ohe Bay. This ideal location is just 15 miles from the University of Hawai'i at Manoa and downtown Honolulu.

The Hawaii Undersea Research Laboratory (HURL) was established by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration ( NOAA ) and the University of Hawaii. Its mission is to study deep water marine processes in the Pacific Ocean.

Pacific Whale Foundation. Mission Statement: The mission of Pacific Whale Foundation, Pacific Whale Foundation's Eco-Adventures and Pacific Whale Foundation's Marine Resource Centers is to inspire and promote appreciation, understanding and protection of whales, dolphins, coral reefs and our planet's oceans. We accomplish this through public environmental education, by supporting and conducting responsible marine research, and by addressing marine conservation issues through activism and education.

The Joint Institute for Marine and Atmospheric Research (JIMAR) was created in 1977 by an agreement between the Environmental Research Laboratories (ERL) of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and the Univeristy of Hawaii (UH). JIMAR was established to pursue the common research interests of NOAA and the UH in oceanic, atmospheric, and geophysical research. Major areas of research in JIMAR include climate and global change, equatorial oceanography, tsunamis, and fisheries oceanography. JIMAR is located on the UH Manoa Campus in the Marine Sciences Building and the Hawaii Institute of Geophysics (HIG).
