Notes:
The hippocampal system is a predictive autoencoder that learns to reproduce the input patterns it receives plus a prediction of the outcome. It learns an internal representation of the inputs and outcomes. The cortical system also learns to map from inputs to outcomes. The hidden layer is trained to reproduce the representation patterns induced by the hidden layer of the hippocampal model. The connections from the hidden cortical layer to the output are taken as the behavioral response.
