Summary

When you are at home, attempt to create a storyboard some short segments of television programs. Good examples from which to learn are new reports, television tabloids, and shows such as NBC's Dateline, ABC's Primetime Live, and ABC's 20/20. Use your VCR to record programs so that you can replay, stop, rewind, and take notes of the events that take place on the video track, the standard audio track, and the secondary audio track. Of course, television production crews have much more sophisticated equipment, but when you break things down, you will begin to notice how they take advantage of these basic components to make the most of such a dynamic medium.

Remember, you are trying to produce an instructional video that teaches your students something in an interesting way. By using the proper strategies, such as using a storyboard, and by maximizing your video production efficiency, you and your students will appreciate the effort you have made.
