Welcome to Roberta
Barra’s Personal Home Page!
I
grew up in Kailua, O’ahu. After serving in
the U.S. Army as an X-Ray Technician, I earned a BBA from Pacific Lutheran
University with a
concentration in Accounting. I worked for a decade in public, private,
and governmental accounting; holding positions as a Controller and a Fiscal
Manager and consulting on accounting software installation projects involving
accounting and ERP software. My experience includes the Construction
and Health Care Industries. In 1992 I earned an MBA from the University of Houston
and, in 1996, a Ph.D. from the University
of Illinois at
Champaign-Urbana.
Since
then, I have held positions at the University
of Texas at Arlington,
California Polytechnic State University at San Luis Obispo, and Pittsburg
State University
in Pittsburg, Kansas.
UH-Hilo is a great place to be!
Currently
my research interests include fraud and internal control. Past research interests include accounting
software and international accounting standards. I have presented my
research at conference proceedings nationally and internationally. For

Mahalo!
