If we passed the tipping point into a new wave of globalization during 1997 - 2008, alternative futures of globalization may be marked by greater economic uncertainty and also by increasingly effective assertiveness from Asian and European governments. How these shifts affect the flow and direction of transborder cultural diffusion and transnational civil society organizations also will be instructive. Other questions are also suggested by these ongoing transformations.
