Heather Bown, Veronica Lima, Leah Karratti, Heidi Ilustre and Nikki Hubbert are usually the starters depending on the injury status of the team. If Jessica Sudduth's heal feels better then she usually starts. Nikki Hubbert sets and Tehani Miyashiro and Shelly Kim are the defensive specialists. Tehani also has a tough jump serve. Due to the height of the team, the bows are able to block and hit well.

The coaching staff has helped the UH volleyball program to become a great success. Charlie Wade and Dave Shoji have recruited some of the best talent in the nation and internationally as well. Since Dave Shoji stepped on board as head coach, the bows have not had a losing season. The usual record of the team includes at least 25 wins and in 9 out of the 23 seasons Dave Shoji has been coaching, the bows have had over 30 wins.
