Integrating Knowledge

There are many ways to learn about our environment. Our kūpuna have passed on a way of knowing and understanding that should be continued and remembered. Western Science also has a way of knowing and understanding along with countless other cultures around the world. Learning and expanding our resource base has great benefits.

" A'ohe pau ka 'ike i ka hālau ho'okahi "

Not all knowledge is learned in one school.

There is nothing wrong with learning about the world around us through multiple lenses. Utilizing the many ways of understanding our world enables us to care for our environment in numerous ways.

We know that our future depends on integrating traditional knowledge with the modern world. One without the other is a world out of balance.
