Practice Ocean Safety!


 

Rule 1:  Know your ocean environment.  Take notice of warning signs.  They will inform you of water and surf conditions.

Large waves can be physically harming and cause drowning.

Has long, venomous tentacles that stings and causes pain.

Stepping on coral can be painful and cause infection.

Strong undertow and current can make swimming difficult and cause drowning.

 Rule 2:  "Locals" are a part of the environment and claim ownership of some of the island beaches.  It is a good practice to be courteous and be aware of "locals only surf spots" to avoid conflict.  Some locals only surf spots are:  Makaha Beach (westside),  Pipeline (north shore), Ala Moana Bowls (ala moana beach), and Sandy's beach (southshore).  Following this rule will make your vacation a fun and memorable one. 

Rule 3:  Some do's and don'ts about the ocean.
